COVID-19 (Coronavirus) Updates

Dane County COVID DashboardCOVID-19 (Coronavirus) Update for Village of Waunakee

As a public entity, the Village of Waunakee must abide by all current Dane County Public Health Orders as they relate to the COVID-19 pandemic. Starting June 2, 2021, masks are optional when entering a Village-owned facility or attending a Village-sponsored event. The Village strongly encourages all individuals (customers, staff, and volunteers) to use their discretion about wearing a mask and make an appropriate decision based on their individual circumstances and comfort level. The Village will continue to encourage physical distancing inside our facilities. The use of public facilities and programs are open to all individuals regardless of vaccination status.

We are optimistic about the direction of the pandemic. The Village continues to monitor the pandemic and may be required to make alterations to this policy as needed and deemed necessary.

Three final reminders:

  1. Curbside appointments are available at all Village locations. If you desire a curbside appointment, please contact the facility you are wishing to visit directly and make that arrangement.
  2. If you are feeling ill in any way, we ask you to show care for the community by not coming into Village buildings until you are feeling healthy again.
  3.  We encourage everyone who is eligible to get vaccinated.

COVID-19 CASES IN WAUNAKEE:

Many citizens have expressed curiosity regarding the number of positive COVID-19 cases in our community.  This is not a number that is tracked at the local level. That information is currently shared at the county level because more specific data could identify people in our communities. No matter where you live, our recommendations are the same: stay home as much as possible. Here’s the recommendations form Dane County Public Health: https://publichealthmdc.com/coronavirus/recommendations-and-guidance.

GENERAL COUNTY, STATE AND NATIONAL HEALTH INFO:

Prevent the spread - wash your hands regularly for at least 20 seconds with soap and water, cover your coughs and sneezes, and stay home when you are ill.

Madison & Dane County Public Health have issued recommendations for individuals, families, and businesses to consider regarding COVID-19. That information is available here: https://www.publichealthmdc.com/health-services/partners-providers/resources-by-disease/coronavirus?fbclid=IwAR2Bi_D2R1hecLafnOiKo0Uh76jz9--YpX5zuxF98IkH-656oCCyxsxnTsw.

The recommendation of the Wisconsin Department of Health Services is if you traveled to a country with a level 3 travel health notice for COVID-19, you will be asked to self-quarantine for 14 days after returning to Wisconsin. If you have a fever, cough, and shortness of breath, seek medical attention and stay home. This means do not go to school, work, enter public buildings, or attend large gatherings. Please See the Wisconsin Department of Health Services’ website for more details on self-quarantining: https://www.dhs.wisconsin.gov/covid-19/index.htm.
