Absentee Voting

Under Wisconsin law, voters do not need a reason to vote absentee. Any voter who prefers to vote by absentee ballot may request one. You have several options for requesting an absentee ballot and casting your vote. For more information about voting absentee in the State of Wisconsin click here

 Requesting an Absentee Ballot

If you are a registered voter in the Village of Waunakee, you can request an absentee ballot via MyVote or download the Application for Absentee Ballot (EL-121). Please see the most recent Absentee Ballot Instructions dated March 3, 2022. Complete the form and mail it to the Village Clerk's Office, P.O. Box 100, 500 West Main Street, Waunakee, Wisconsin 53597. Your application must be received by the Clerk no later than 5:00 p.m. on the Thursday before the election in order for an absentee ballot to be mailed to you. Proper Voter Photo ID must accompany your request. Voters will be required to include a copy of proper voter photo ID such as a Wisconsin-issued driver's license or state-issued ID in order to receive a ballot by mail.  If you are not already registered, you will need to register to vote before an absentee ballot can be issued to you.

Voter Photo ID 
Voter Photo ID is the law in Wisconsin. Voters will be required to show proper voter photo ID such as a Wisconsin-issued driver's license or state-issued ID in order to receive a ballot and vote. Request an Absentee Ballot by Email or Fax

Regular Village of Waunakee voters may also request that a ballot be sent to them by sending an email or fax to their municipal clerk. This request must be made no later than 5:00 p.m. on the Thursday before the election in order for an absentee ballot to be mailed to you. Voters will be required to show a Voter Photo ID such as a Wisconsin-issued driver's license or state-issued ID in order to received a ballot and vote. Returning Your Absentee Ballot

  • U.S. Postal Service: Your completed absentee ballot must be received by the municipal clerk on or before Election Day.
  • Other delivery (FedEx, hand-delivery, etc.): Your completed absentee ballot must be delivered to your polling location no later than 8:00 p.m. on Election Day.

In-Person Absentee Voting at the Village Clerk's Office 

You can vote absentee in person at the Village Clerk's Office, 500 West Main Street, Waunakee, Wisconsin 53597. In-person absentee voting ends at the close of business on the Friday before the election. Voter Photo ID is the law in Wisconsin. Voters will be required to show proper voter photo ID such as a Wisconsin-issued driver's license or state-issued ID in order to receive a ballot and vote. When voting in-person at the Clerk's Office, vote your ballot immediately, seal your ballot in the envelope provided, and return it to a member of the Clerk's staff. No ballots may be taken from the Clerk's Office.
