  4. Heritage Fest at Schumacher Farm Park 2015

    Schumacher Farm Park is a 100 acre open air museum and prairie conservancy dedicated to preserving the farm traditions of the 1920's and 1930's. It is run by the Friends of Schumacher Farm Park in cooperation with Dane County Parks and the Marcella Schumacher Pendall Trust. Join us for an afternoon of old-fashioned fun at the 23rd Annual Heritage Fest. Admission is $5 person. Concessions available. Horse drawn wagon ride is $2. The event features music by the Soggy Prairie Boys Blue Grass Band, horse drawn wagon rides, a prairie walk at 2 PM, live farm animals, plus old-time craft and food demonstrations of sausage, butter, apple-cider, wood stove cooking, quilting and more.     Place brush on the terrace by 7:00 a.m. with the cut ends toward the road. Please leave branches as long as possible as this will save you and our crews' time. Brush is considered limbs and branches from trees and large shrubs. All other woody vegetation such as plant stalks, small bush trimmings, etc. will not be collected. This type of material can be taken to the compost site on Highway Q. south of the Village. If you have a contractor trim or prune your trees or bushes, they are responsible for the removal of the brush. Collection begins Monday and is completed within the week when Public Works has gone through the entire Village.

  11. Police National Night Out 2015

    Waunakee National Night Out 2015 Village Park 500 E Main St Wednesday, August 12, 2015 5:00 PM-7:00 PM The Waunakee Police Department hosts National Night Out every summer. The festivities are held at the Village Park on Main Street. National Night Out celebrations take place in over 10,000 communities from all 50 states. National Night Out is designed to: (1) Heighten crime and drug prevention awareness: (2) Generate support for, and participation in, local anti-crime efforts: (3) Strengthen neighborhood spirit and police-community partnerships: (4) Send a message to criminals letting them know neighborhoods are united with the police in their efforts to make Waunakee a safe community to live. There will be activities for kids, prizes, free brats and hot dogs, and numerous displays by various law enforcement agencies. Members of the community are encouraged to sign up to win one of the many prizes to be given away at the Village Park during National Night Out.

    Maybe you have heard of Color Run...but how about participating in a Chalk Walk! This one-mile walk will be the most colorful and fun event you have ever been a part of. As you walk the Village Park route, you will get showered in powdered dye...turning you into a Technicolor canvas of fun! Just when you thought you couldn't possibly be more colorful, you'll cross the finish line and find yourself in the middle of a color storm at our race-ending celebration including music and fun. Registration fee is $13.00 and includes a walk t-shirt to show off all of the color and individual powder packs for the finale. This race sold out last year so don't delay, register today!
