Art on Main

It Started with Goats on Main...

Waunakee’s annual Art on Main public art project presented in collaboration with Endres Manufacturing and other partners aims to showcase the talent and creativity living within our community. The first project kicked off in 2015 with the successful Goats on Main, which celebrated Endres’s long-time mascot and the Chinese Year of the Goat. The Village further expanded on its heritage in 2016 with Barns on Main and highlighted the role the locomotive played in Waunakee’s identity in 2017 with Trains on Main.

Each year the Village invites artists to design a work to adorn a steel cutout representing the chosen theme. Artists receive the steel cutout and base as well as a stipend from project partners and are free to determine the materials and direction of the final project. The Village displays the finished works of art for three months and then auctions them off to the community at Wauktoberfest. Proceeds support future projects that benefit the community through the Waunakee Creative Economy Initiative and the Endres Foundation.
